SDCC: IDW/Boom Announce Star Trek/Planet of the Apes Crossover, The Event No One Knew We Wanted

The two classic sci-fi series are crossing over...for the very first time!

Source: Robot 6

IDW and Boom! have announced a Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover series that will mix the casts and worlds of both 1960s sci-fi franchises.  The series will star the original cast of Star Trek (with Shatner as Kirk, Nimoy as Spock, etc.) with characters from the 1968 version of Planet of the Apes.  The plot will focus on Kirk intervening when he discovers a Klingon-backed coup conspiracy in Ape City.

Classic Trek comic writers David and Scott Tipton will write the crossover, while newcomer Rachael Stott will draw the series.
