Toonami: Changes Are A Coming!

The head behind Toonami, Jason DeMarco is hinting at big changes in store for the animated action block.. next year.

Change has always been a fixturate on Cartoon Network's Toonami animated action block. Originally, back in the mid-90s when it was created, the two-hour block was just an excuse for the network to dump it's 80s and early 90s anime dubs. Some with nostigic value like Voltron, others recent aka Ronin Warriors (which was da bomb). Then there were the ones that were horribly edited, dubbed, and only a scant selection of the large catalogue of episodes the series had aka Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z  Then the block was extended, the original host (Space Ghost's Moltar) dropped in favor of a new host and location: TOM and the Absolution. Since then, Toonami has been stuck with these two, though both have changed since then.

It appears a BIG change is once again a coming for Toonami as per the tweets of Jason DeMarco, the man er Lich King in charge of it. Here's what he's been tweeting since yesterday:

So what does this all mean? Well, Toonami has taken a hit in the ratings recently some have blamed reruns Adult Swim airs preceding the block and new anime, Attack on Titan, isn't faring as once lead-in Space Dandy did in the 11:30 pm (EST) slot (however it's still winning later time slots with One Piece and Blue Exorcist). However, salvation is around the corner with the VERY popular anime Gurren Lagann set to debut later this month.

As for when Intruder 2 hits, well, it is aimed for sometime next year as when it was originally announced.  What kind of big changes are coming? I guess we'll wait and see when that special hits. Until then, we'll keep you updated on Toonami, with any changes to the block.
