Marvel has announced that principal photography has begun on Ant-Man, the new Marvel movie formerly directed by Edgar Wright. This, of course, formally launches the Ant-Man "Leaked Set Pics" season, in which various paparazzi take photos of every scene shot in the outdoors and largely spoil the first two acts of the movie. Various unscrupulous websites will then attempt to profit off of those pictures by posting them online in the hopes of gaining thousands of hits while providing scant commentary on those photos for maximum search engine optimization. Being experts on unscrupulous websites and their hit-mongering ways, we will bring you breaking coverage of these set leaks as they happen, because it is our moral imperative and not at all because we also like the juicy site-sustaining traffic Ant-Man set leaks provide.
When announcing this groundbreaking news, Marvel also noted that Mad Men's John Slattery will be reprising his role as old Howard Stark, and that Judy Greer and the rapper T.I. will be joining the cast. No word on whom the latter two actors will be playing, but we're guessing that T.I. will be playing some sort of world-weary character who comments on the blurred lines between good and evil in today's society.
Finally, Marvel gave a new description of the film, which shows its dedication to female and minority characters by only mentioning the two main male characters. Here it is below:
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
