Could things be getting serious between Hollywood power couple BOOM! Studios and 20th Century Fox? According to the latest gossip column from Comic Book Resources' Albert Ching, that seems to be the case! After the production studio and comic book publisher were spotted together at a popular nightclub this week, rumors have begun to circulate that the pair are looking to take their relationship to the next level. Will wedding bells be far behind?
"BOOM! is one of the most creative and prolific comic book and graphic novel publishers around, with a fantastic library and an incredible pipeline of new, exciting properties," Fox reportedly said of the publisher to a close friend. "And we love the way they look in that tight black dress. You know, the one with the straps? Yowza!"
Since October, BOOM! and Fox have been involved in a committed First Look relationship that gives Fox the exclusive first crack at developing any BOOM! comic book property into a movie. As a result of this relationship, there are three BOOM! movie projects currently in development at Fox: Malignant Man, The Foundation, and Rust. But the addition of a television show, based on the comic Unthinkable, signals a serious shift in the dynamics of the partnership. But how did it happen so quickly?
The relationship's progression has been organic, sources close to both companies tell us. According to reports, Fox knew that they had something special when they found that BOOM! had begun leaving personal items in Fox's apartment, such as a toothbrush in the bathroom and some make up and hair care products in Fox's dresser, and Fox realized that it didn't really mind. "At first, you want to pull back, like, whoa, is this moving too fast?" the company told a confidant. "But then we realized that seeing BOOM!'s things around made us feel closer to them. It's scary, yes, but at the same time, it's wonderful."
With things heating up between the couple, it's only natural that they take the next step and increase their commitment to each other, so BOOM! and Fox announced plans yesterday to extend their deal to TV shows as well as movies. "We feel like the luckiest comic book publisher in the world," explained a gushing BOOM! Studios, reportedly. "A comic book publisher dreams about this day for all of its life. We're so happy to have found Fox, and learned that we can make such beautiful Movie and TV Show adaptations together. We have a chemistry like we've known each other our entire lives. It's magical."
Asked whether the couple might consider tying the knot, BOOM! remained elusive. However, recent photographs showing the publisher with a radiant glow and possible baby bump hint that things may be further along than anyone realizes.
