The LA Times has revealed that DC Comics is relaunching Secret Six, with Gail Simone back as writer. Illustrator Ken Lashley will draw the relaunched series, which will begin in December. While DC hasn't revealed the full line-up of the new team, Simone did reveal to the Times that Catman and Black Alice, two members of the pre-New 52 squad, will be returning.
Simone described the initial premise of the series as "six strangers trapped in a room and unsure how they arrived there". Dale Eaglesham will provide covers and character designs for the series.
While a Secret Six team has been around since the Silver Age, the team really built up a fanbase when Simone rebooted it as a group of villains running in opposition to the Secret Society of Supervillains in the lead up to Infinite Crisis. Fan demand led to the team getting its own series, which ran from 2008 until it was cancelled shortly before DC rebooted its continuity in 2011.
Several members of Simone's team have already appeared in the New 52, including Deadshot, Bane and Ragdoll. Catman and Black Alice, the two confirmed members of the New 52 team, have yet to appear in DC's new continuity. The cover hints that a Talon from Scott Snyder's Court of Owls will also be a part of the team, with several other unknown characters.
Secret Six #1 will be released in December. The cover to the first issue can be seen below:
