When The Lego Movie hit theaters in 2014, it turned out to be a fun, adventurous film that even cynics had to admit was a pretty good time. The movie was a hit, and the fact that a sequel is now in the works is no surprise.
ComingSoon.net is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Rob Schrab to direct the sequel, and that, of course, is awesome. Schrab has comic book roots, having written and drawn the very underrated creator-owned Scud the Disposable Assassin comic. He's been working as a television director for at least the last decade or so, displaying a quirky, comedic visual style that should fit well with Lego's brand of animation.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who wrote and directed the first Lego Movie, will be writing the sequel as well as serving as producers.
