In a story that gripped the nation yesterday, Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon left Twitter after being attacked by a sinister cabal of progressive social media users for his portrayal of Black Widow in the just-released Avengers sequel. It wasn't long before another guy who was driven off twitter by the criticism of liberals, Erik Larsen, chimed in on the affair. Here's what Larsen had to say:
According to Larsen, Whedon was simply the latest victim of a problem with our culture:
Wait, what?
Larsen seems to get involved in a lot of these personal conflicts. Just sayin'. Anyway, he summed up what he views as the problem with kids these days:
Larsen then went on to explain his own take on things:
He also shared his thoughts on Age of Ultron:
Finally, Larsen concluded:
How dare these uppity fans speak ill of their betters?!
It's not surprising that Larsen sees things the way he does. He took a lot of heat, including from this very website, when he made comments about female superhero costume design a little while ago. Of course, after his own brief Twitter sabbatical, Larsen came back and gave an in depth interview to The Outhouse explaining himself, and we don't want to take full credit for his career or anything, but let's just say he's now one of the most successful independent creators in comics with a long running creator-owned series, and he's a co-founder of the third largest comic book publisher in America. That's the Outhouse rub, baby.
Meanwhlle, no one (on social media) has heard from Joss Whedon in over 24 hours. (Internet) Authorities tell The Outhouse that search (engine) parties have not given up the hunt, but every hour that passes makes it more likely that Whedon may never again be found (on social media) (on this same account because if you leave your account deactivated for a month it gets deleted) (I think). We'll keep following this story as long as it takes, or at least as long as it keeps earning us clicks.
In the meantime, please feel let us know what you think below. Do you agree with Larsen, or do you want to drive him off Twitter with your rebuttal? Post it in the comments, but be nice! We don't need any more Culture Wars casualties.
