The episode had gone so long without any action, he forgot he was watching a zombie show.

Last night's premiere of Fear the Walking Dead was highly anticipated by television viewers, but at least one man experienced quite a surprise while watching the first episode last night. According to reports, Peoria, Illinois man Angus MacStickenbutt was taken completely by surprise when a zombie appeared during the final five minutes of the hour and a half program.

"After roughly 85 minutes of watching a show about the relationships and human drama of a Los Angeles family, I had completely forgotten that I was watching a spinoff of The Walking Dead," explained MacStickenbutt. "I thought my cable box had accidentally turned to the Lifetime channel, and I was watching one of their made-for-TV movies about a plucky family pulling together to deal with the perils of heroin addiction."

MacStickenbutt admitted that the pre-opening sequence also featured tens of seconds of onscreen zombies, but that after spending an hour and a half exploring the inter-personal dramas of the troubled but caring Clark family, they were but a distant memory when a zombie made a surprise appearance near the end.

According to witnesses, when Maddie, Travis, and Nick encountered the undead Calvin in the tunnel, MacStickenbutt almost jumped off his couch, he was so shocked. Sources tell The Outhouse that MacStickenbutt would watch the show again, but he worries that future episodes may feel rushed with 1-2 minutes of zombie action squeezed into a one hour show, without the extra 30 minutes that the pilot offered. Representatives of the show, however, have promised not to rush things, and will reportedly spread the minutes of zombie action throughout several episodes if necessary so as not to overload viewers.
