According to a new report from Birth Movies Death, which comes to us via The Beat, Marvel CEO and person likely the subject of Rich Johnston's secret that would shut down a major comics publisher, Ike Perlmutter, is the man to blame for the lack of Black Widow merchandise released alongside Avengers: Age of Ultron. Earlier this year, we reported on the Widow shutout, which included replacing her character in toys specifically replicating scenes from the movie with Captain America and Iron Man, even though Iron Man specifically has no use for riding a motorcycle when he wears a suit that can fly. Well, it looks like Perlmutter, just like in most things wrong at Marvel, is to blame:
I understand the reason there are no Black Widow toys is specifically because Ike, with a background in toys, believes girl toys do not sell and thus vetoed them again and again. One guy was the roadblock.
Of course, while blocking Black Widow merchandise was a stupid and sexist move, if our speculation about Rich Johnston's secret is correct, it may pale in comparison to whatever horrible, worse than Jimmy Saville thing Perlmutter has locked away in his past.
Allegedly, of course.
We'll keep talking about this until Rich Johnston tells us what it is.
