It has already been confirmed that Daniel Brühl will be playing Baron Helmut Zemo in Captain America: Civil War. There has been little talk about his role in the movie since the revelation. However we now know one key things about the character, he won't look much like his comic counterpart. During a promotional tour for his movie Burnt, Brühl revealed this:
"He does not wear the mask"
So, Zemo will not be wearing the trademark purple sock over his head in the movie. This makes it likely he doesn't go through the movie with a badly disfigured face from his unfortunate encounter with Adhesive X either. Or have the mask he donned as Phoenix, nor his silver Citizen V face…
Brühl hints that this is not the only difference between his character and the one in the comics:
"It's loosely connected to this character. But that's what I like about the Marvel guys, some of the characters and things they're dealing with always reference to current events so my character is from a different area than you would think."
The actor also gave a hint about the fate of the character. Spoiler, he may not meet the fate of so many other Marvel movie villains and actually survive…
"There's a possibility" … "That's the way it's written."
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
