Proving There is Justice in World, Soulless Jem Reboot Fails Utterly at Box Office

Who could have foreseen that a Jem movie featuring none of the elements that made the show popular would bomb at the box office?

Source: Spinoff Online

This weekend at the box office, Jem made just 1.3 million dollars despite a 2000+ screen release, prompting moviegoers everywhere to respond: "Jem came out this weekend?" The movie was panned from the release of the first trailer, which implied that it would not feature The Misfits, Synergy, or any sense of joy that made the original cartoon series a beloved favorite of many children of the 1980s. It is unknown whether any of those aspects were featured in the actual film, because it was only seen by three confused moviegoers in Peoria, IL who purchased tickets to The Martian but accidentally ended up in the wrong theater.

"Frankly, I enjoyed Matt Damon's performance," said one of the unlucky viewers, "but I didn't understand why he felt the need to remake Josie and the Pussycats."

In response to the colossal flop, filmmaker Jon M. Chu revealed that he had received death threats and racist remarks in response to the film, which is of course never acceptable. However, it doesn't negate the fact that, once again, Hollywood took a beloved property and tried to cash in on its name while producing a lackluster product that bears little resemblance to the source material. Or at least, that's what we're pretty sure they did, because, like most everyone else, we didn't see it.
