Pom Klementieff has been selected for a "key" role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie. Though little known in the United States, Klementieff has some acting experience in French television and film. She also played Haeng-Bok in Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, her first US and English-language movie.

Klementieff's role, while described as key, remains a mystery. Director James Gunn did mention previously that he did not want anyone from Earth aside from Star-Lord in this movie, so unless they change the nature of the character it probably isn't Mantis. The casting called for:

"… an Asian actress, doing several rounds of chemistry reads"

Any guesses about the role?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 starts filming in February  2016 and launches in theaters March 5, 2017.

UPDATE (10/30/15):

According to Deadline's (they've been told), Klementieff will be playing Mantis. In the comics, Mantis was an Earther, daughter of Gustav and Lau Brandt. She was given up to the Priests of Pama (Kree) to be raised as the "Celestial Madonna" who would eventually birth the "Celestial Messiah". She was trained in, and excelled at, martial arts. She also has recuperative, telekentic, and telepathic powers.
