Musician, director, and writer Gerard Way may be seeing a lot more time in comics. The former lead singer of My Chemical Romance has had considerable success already with his miniseries, but hasn't released a comic in almost a year. It appears the singer could be seeing a lot more time behind the pen. Way has two new arcs of his Eisner winning Umbrella Academy underway, but it appears Way may be taking on another title.
This would be great news for the comics industry. Way has maintained a strong online presence, positive reputation, and, most importantly, a fanbase of people who otherwise wouldn't try comics. On top of that, he's a critically acclaimed writer who has a history of making good books.
Last month Way shared that he and Becky Cloonan had successfully pitched for Doom Patrol, only to have Way's touring schedule complicate the title's release. Doom Patrol has been a book so beloved by Way that he nearly quit music so he could write it full time. Could this be the revival of the project?
It is all just speculation, but one thing we can guarantee is this book will contain lotion.
