Bay To Direct 'Transformers 5', Confirms TMNT Rumor

You heard it right, the Bay is back in town

Source: '13 Hours': Can Michael Bay Pull Off a Gritty Movie About Benghazi?

Note: Zechs, the Outhouse reporter who normally reports on Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie news was so excited by this news, he went to wait in line…

We already knew that more Transformers movies were on the way, but the director of the previous installments, Michael Bay, had hinted that he would be back only in a producer role after 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction. Optimus Prime himself wanted Bay back as director for Transformers 5, and we guess what Optimus wants he gets as Bay revealed he is indeed back for another installment:

"I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" … "I've taken on a lot of work."

He did indicate (again) that he wants to move on from directing Transformers:

"Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else."

And also revealed that someone who directed a small movie this year may have been a force in him taking on installment 5:

"J.J. [Abrams] told me, 'You're the only guy that could do this.' But it's time to move on. One more."

Thanks a lot Abrams.

Bay also confirmed something about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (not to be confused with the 2013 video game of the same name). Back in May of 2015, it was rumored that the alien Krang would appear in the upcoming movie. It seems that the little guy will be in the sequel as Bay reviewed special effects footage of Krang:

They start with Ninja Turtles animation. Pablo Helman, a visual-effects supervisor who worked on the Star Wars prequels, appears onscreen and shows Bay the latest version of Krang, a new-to-the-movies villain who is, essentially, a disembodied brain inside a giant robot. "So we've eliminated the tentacles," Helman explains. "Is it too monster-ish?"

"He could have some tentacles," says Bay. "I just don't want them coming out of the side. He looks like a stupid octopus."

So there you go. A non-stupid-octopus-looking-Krang will be in the Bay-produced TMNT sequel.

Zechs has a little ways to wait to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows as it debuts on June 3. Someone in his area might think to bring the guy a bedpan since he'll be waiting in line after that til 2017, when Transformers 5 arrives.
