Apocalypse Canceled After Being Back On Then Canceled But Back on for Pacific Rim 2

At this point we're about as confused as you are at how ridiculous this is getting as the sequel to the movie of giant robots vs. giant monsters is still on.

So yeah, Pacific Rim 2, while it appeared to be dead a few months ago. Seems to be still alive. How you ask? After the last time we reported it sounded deader than positive love for Civil War 2.

But that wassically wabbit director Guillermo Del Toro refuses to give up. Apparently he's going the Bugs Bunny method of refusing to say the sequel to giant monsters vs. giant robots is gone. Here's what he had to say on Twitter yesterday:

Whelp, there we have it. Now next one can expect after the next studio rumbling saying it's dead to Del Toro to agree with them, and then Universal to scream out, "AH HA! THE SEQUEL IS ON! IT'S ON!" To which Del Toro will just simply smirk and go to work on it.

That, or Legendary just inked a deal (per Variety) with Chinese media giant Dalian Wanda that's worth $3.5 billion. You might remember China as being the reason Pacific Rim was an actual hit (because Americans were too busy loving Grown-Ups 2, before FINALLY getting wise to the crapulence of a Adam Sandler movie).

So that might be the reason why Del Toro has hope and maybe we should too. Until the next report of saying the project is dead.
