So those seeing 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi tonight (I know you all really want to see Michael Bay do what he does best). Well those who did got a surprise nobody saw coming: a trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane.
No really, nobody saw this coming. We knew John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and John Gallagher, Jr. were in something called Valencia (originally called The Cellar) and directed by Dan Trachtenberg. But producer for the movie, J.J. Abrams and his production team Bad Robot apparently fooled the entire world. You gotta admit to keep this sort of thing secret for this long is amazing. It makes you wonder just how the heck did the production team or anyone keep quiet about this?
Or did J.J. pull a Star Wars: Force Awakens approach and execute any Bothans who'd escape with spoilers of it? Well here's what we know of the movie. J.J. said this via Collider:
"We wanted to make it a blood relative of 'Cloverfield'. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible."
And here's the trailer:
We're gonna assume that this bunker they're hiding in is to protect them from the various problems a certain giant monster caused in the movie Cloverfield (2007). Does this mean a certain giant monster might vaguely return? This also doesn't look like a found-footage movie (which the original was) so that's another plus to it.
I guess we'll find out March 11, when the movie comes out and surprises us more.
