After news of Ike Perlmutter's $1 Million donation to Donald Trump's veteran fundraiser broke, head of Double Take and on again off again overlord of The Outhousers, Bill Jemas, reportedly decided to put some skin of his own in the political game by making a sizable donation to a presidential candidate. The donation, which is said to be in the amount of 15 dollars, is a sign that while Jemas may have maintained a friendship with Perlmutter, the two have differing opinions on politics. Despite his colorful antics and inclination for controversy, Jemas has never been known to bring politics into the workplace, but he was also unwilling to be upstaged by his former employer. Unfortunately, Jemas's choice of candidate may reflect his typical lack of involvement in the political sphere; he chose to donate his money to 1996 third party presidential candidate Ross Perot.
When reached for comment, Mr. Jemas said, "Ike and I don't see eye to eye, but we agree on a lot of things, such as how we can't stand that Bob Dole guy. He thinks he can just talk about himself in the third person all the time and everyone will just roll out the red carpet for him. And don't get us started on Slick Willy."
Jemas did manage to reference at least one current presidential candidate in his statements. At least, we think he did. "Neither Ike nor I are fans of Bush, either. 'Read my lips, no new taxes.' What a lie that turned out to be! And his VP, Quayle, can't even spell 'potato!'"
Though we're fairly certain he has not yet chosen a running mate, the insinuation that both men cannot bear Jeb Bush shows a lot about the character of the two men. Perlmutter likely has fellow billionaire friends, and Jemas often forgets what decade he is in thanks to years of drug abuse. Jemas stands by his decision, however, stating that he is glad he made the donation even if it means he can no longer afford to purchase a Super Pack at the special Kickstarter price of $15.
