Stealth Canceled: Red Wolf, Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D., Angela: Queen of Hell?

Marvel may be hoping no one notices they canceled these books - and they may get their wish.

Outhouse forum poster Stephen Day writes:

In the solicitations released last month by Marvel, the first trade paperbacks for Red Wolf and Howling Commandos of SHIELD were listed. The strange thing was that all of the other trade paperbacks had a, "Vol. 1" attached. As an example, "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Vol. 1: BFF TPB." Red Wolf and Howling Commandos of SHIELD on the other hand, their trade paperbacks were listed as, "Red Wolf: Man Out of Time TPB," and Howling Commandos of SHIELD: Monster Squad TPB," neither having, "Vol. 1" added anywhere. Both trades' write ups listed the trades as covering issues one to six and neither series has been solicited past issue six. The only other series this was done with was Black Knight's trade, a series that has been confirmed to be canceled with issue five.

In the solicitations Marvel released today, Angela: Queen of Hel's first trade paperback was listed. Like Red Wolf, Howling Commandos of SHIELD and Black Knight's trades, there was no, "Vol. 1" attached to the solicitation title. The write up lists the trade as covering issues one to seven and Angela: Queen of Hel has no solicitations past issue seven.

Right now I'm assuming that the lack of a listed volume for these trades is Marvel's unofficial way of announcing these series' cancellations. Does anyone disagree?

What do you think? Bleeding Cool speculated about the pending cancellation of Angela and Howling Commandos back in January based on similar sleuthing, and in February, Newsarama listed both titles as in need of "saving" by fans. But there have been no official announcements. There's been no talk of Red Wolf at all, official or otherwise, but it does seem to fit the same mold.

Here's the February sales for all three titles from Comichron:

136 Angela Queen of Hel 5 $3.99 Marvel 15,968

163 Howling Commandos of Shield 5 $3.99 Marvel 12,281

165 Red Wolf 3 $3.99 Marvel 12,211

Here's the solicits for those trade paperbacks:

UPDATE: In their constant quest to make us edit our articles, Bleeding Cool has "confirmed" at least Angela's cancellation from the most unlikely of sources - the book itself!

We will pay them back by letting them know about all their typos for the next week, which should cause them to need to edit their own articles about 10,000 times.
