I am starting to see.

I went into this thinking, a nice change of pace, that I would not have enough to dissect in a 2 and a half hour film to stretch 30 posts. I no longer have fear. This movie is batshit insane and I want to you to take my hand as I take a walk through the same film differently over and over again for 30 days in a row.

Because they offered it and I want to know why.

The following post carries plot spoilers for the film.

This is Day 4.

The beginning of this film may be the most bizarre and the most boring choice on the planet. It's called 'Batman V Superman.' So if you thought they wouldn't open with the Wayne murders, they open with the Wayne murders.

But, here is where it gets weird. Thomas 'the Tank Engine' Wayne sees a man point a gun at him and his family; so instead of trying to peacefully end the conflict and surrender his valuables, the camera shows emphasis on Daddy Wayne clenching his gloved fist and going at the mugger. This sets the tone for every character in this film. A drive to make brash, destructive decisions without a single hesitation. You don't lunge at a man with a gun, Doc, not even if you got on a snazzy mustache. That's just ridiculous; you're not a Kryptonian, you're a bat, you're more marketable. (Full disclo: I never read the comics.)

Then the gun gets stuck between a hysteric Mama Wayne's pearl necklace and her face, so he just blasts her through the skull and she drops. Martha 'Kent' Wayne passes away as the dipshit that endangered her and her son whispers her name with his dying breath. Leaving youngin Bruce Wayne to stand shocked, as the mugger Joe Chill, known better as Mr. Freeze runs away. (Full disclo II: still haven't read the comics since last paragraph.)

Speaking of Bruce Wayne, after 4 attentive viewings of the film, I finally noticed and can confim that in the second batcave scene, Ben Affleck's cute mole moves slightly downward. What does this mean? Is it symbolic of Batman's spiral into vengance just like his mole? Does it rise again at the end when he realized his follies? Do his other moles move? Only more viewings shall tell. Join me tomorrow to hear about my fifth viewing of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
