DC Comics Shorts Retailers on Copies of Own Previews Magazine

The remaining copies will arrive after the order deadline.

Not to be upstaged by Image Comics' slew of announcements including the return of Karen Berger and the founding of a $30,000 cartoonists grant, DC Comics has found themselves in the news today, for the usual DC Comics sort of thing. It seems that, because they couldn't figure out until the last minute what comics and creative teams would actually be a part of their #Rebirth event, the company had trouble getting its Previews catalog to the printer on time. You know, the catalog that will allow readers to see which books they want to order and let retailers know, so those retailers can in turn order the books from DC Comics. Yes, that's the one.

Well, it turns out, for some reason (lenticular 3D cover perhaps?) DC also wasn't able to print enough of them, and retailers will receive only two thirds of their orders of the catalog. That means that their line-wide not-a-reboot reboot event, which was meant to revitalize DC's crappy sales, will be hampered before it even starts by a lack of supply of the catalog that lists the comics to order. And that doesn't even take into account the retailers who use a paper previews catalog instead of computers to figure out their orders. What a mess!

Of course, DC will be sending the remaining catalogs out on April 20th. But, uh... the ordering deadline is April 18th, so... yeah.

Oh, DC. Looks like DC #Rebirth is off to a great start, with two counter resets before the first book even hits stands!

And they would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those pesky kids Hipster Shaggy and friends Bleeding Cool.

It has been zero days since DC Comics did something stupid.
