Among the many games Sony announced at their E3 2016 press conference, one was aimed specially for comic book fans. Though no release date went along with the announcement, a new Spider-Man game will be gracing the popular PS4 gaming platform. It's not that surprising that Sony would get a game exclusive, as the movie division has the Spider-Man rights, and the platform is the most popular thus far this "generation".
What might be considered a little surprising is that the upcoming game will not be a game adaption of the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, though something like that would probably be multiplatform anyway. This time around, the game will be developed by Insomniac Games, who created Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, and Sunset Overdrive. Spider-Man will be the first game by Insomniac not based on their own IP. As described by Insomniac Games' Bryan Intihar, Spider-Man PS4 will feature:
"… a more seasoned Peter Parker who’s more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City. At the same time, he’s struggling to balance his absurdly chaotic personal life and career. All while nine million New Yorkers depend on him for their safety…"
