'The Lego Movie Sequel' Pushed Back Until 2019

Warner Bros. Continues to mix and match Lego movies and dates

Warner Bros. Pictures continues to shuffle around Lego movies and their dates. After the blockbuster (brickbuster?) success of the original The Lego Movie, it was no surprise that it would get a sequel. It seems that the success of The Lego Movie also prompted Warner to greenlight a bunch of other Lego movies, such as a Lego Ninjago movie and The Lego Movie spinoff, The Lego Batman Movie.

Warner has shuffled around the schedule for the movies before, pushing back the Lego Ninjago from Fall 2016 to September 22, 2017. At the same time that that happened, The Lego Movie Sequel was actually nudged forward a week to May 18, 2018.

Well so much for that. It's now being announced that The Lego Movie Sequel will have a change in release date again, but this time pushed back. Way back, almost a year to February 8, 2019. No reason was given for the delay. Hopefully it won't get pushed back further.

While we wait for more adventures of Emmet (Chris Pratt), Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks), and the rest of the crew, you can still catch Lego in the cinema in the afforementioned The Lego Batman Movie on February 10, 2017 and The Lego Ninjago Movie on September 22, 2017. 2018 seems pretty devoid of Lego movies but we still don't have a release date for the The Billion Brick Race spinoff. No doubt there will also be other animated Lego specials and games… Or you could just assemble some Lego bricks to pass the time…
