The newest installment in the Kelvin Timeline series of Star Trek movies, Star Trek Beyond, is getting some starpowered help from musician Rihanna. The star teased a new song to debut with a new trailer for the upcoming movie:
Indeed, the new trailer does prominently feature Rihanna's new single Sledgehammer, alongside lots of footage of the destruction of the U.S.S. Enterprise, which was also destroyed in the third movie of the Prime timeline, though maybe less spectacularly. The movie does look action-packed as there is no room for a Trek movie to be more cerebral, we hope that Roland Emmerich does not think that Star Trek Beyond is not copying him. At least the Rihanna song is less cringeworthy than their previous effort. What do you think?
Here's the official synopsis for the film:
"Star Trek Beyond," the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin ("The Fast and the Furious" franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In "Beyond," the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
Star Trek Beyond crashes into theaters July 22.
