We're only a few weeks away from the premiere of Batman: The Killing Joke (it'll be shown at SDCC and after that on July 25th for a one-night only limited release run) so the hype machine is slowly starting to churn. DC Access has a clip from the movie, but nope I'm not gonna talk about that (other than repeated thoughts in my head of, "Please be good. Please don't screw this up!!").
See, some intrepid fan on YouTube, Plan Making Mammals, recolored the entire trailer to the movie into the style of original graphic novel (as colored by John Higgins). The irony being that the comic was recolored by the artist of it Brian Bolland, into a more dreary realistic style for the 2008 Deluxe Edition (which is the aesthetic with animated movie is going for).
Anyway, enough of my yapping, here's the redone trailer:
They even made a comparison shot-for-shot with the actual trailer, their redrawn trailer, and cuts of panels from the original graphic novel:
But if you just want the original trailer again sans the comparison shots; here it is because I'm feeling merciful tonight:
I have to confess, the "redrawn" version does make the animation stand-out even more, and creates an even more twisted striking atmosphere befitting the story.
So what say you the fans? You prefer what we're getting, or now suddenly after viewing this this redone method now think we've gotten a raw deal?
Batman: The Killing Joke will be available for Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital release on August 2nd.
