Jing Tian to Suit Up for 'Pacific Rim 2'

The actress seems to have a thing for giant monsters having already been recruited for Kong: Skull Island, and is now signed up for this movie in an undisclosed role.

Pacific Rim 2 is taking shape as we have yet another cast member announced for it! Actress Jing Tian has signed onto the movie and is joining John Boyega (who'll be playing the son of Stacker Pentecost aka Idris Elba's character from the 2013 original), Scott Eastwood (hopefully as a stereo-typical Australian), and Cailee Spaeny (maybe the role producer and original director Guillermo del Toro wanted Maisie Williams for. Just speculation on my part).

It's good that the cast is starting to take shape, but I can't help but be a little unsettled with the fact that so far nobody from the original is set to reprise their roles. Hopefully they're saving Elba (a cameo at least), Ron Perlman, Charlie Day, Max Martini, or Rinko Kikuchi for the grand finale of casting news. We already know one of original cast member ain't coming back for seconds.

Back to Tian though, who fans will become more familiar with next year when she'll play a part in another epic giant monster movie, Kong: Skull Island.  She'll also be in The Great Wall which apparently stars Matt Damon because the man hasn't been lost in Asia yet.

Production for Pacific Rim 2 begins in November with a release date of February 23, 2018.
