You Can Get Young Again: 'Young Justice' Season 3 Announced

Old series returns

There have been hints about it recently, but now it's official: Young Justice will be back for a third season. The cartoon lasted for two seasons on Cartoon Network, from November 2010 to March 2013 and followed the adventures of the team of teen DC superheroes. The original series appears to have died because of a reliance of its toyline to fund the show.

Long-desired by fans for new episodes for the series, excitement for a possible third season began to build when the original series began to air on Netflix. Looks like it worked. Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register commented:

"The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us" … "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series."

Original Young Justice producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti are also back on board.

Here's the synopsis of the series from Warner Bros. Animation:

In Young Justice, the teenage Super Heroes of the DC Universe come of age in a world of super powers, Super-Villains and super secrets. Used strategically as the secret covert weapon of the Justice League, Nightwing, Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and a host of others strive to prove to their legendary mentors, as well as to themselves, that they have what it takes to be heroes.

No release date or "channel" for season 3 (nor voice actor confirmations) have been announced yet. Stay tuned.
