Who Was October's Top Comics Winner? It Depends On Who You Ask

We wait for other comic sites to do the work so we don't have to.

Welcome to another month of the head-scratching puzzle called Comic Sales Stats. The initial reports crowned Marvel as October's winner.

However, once the figures were more closely delved into it was gleaned that the original numbers for Champions #1 did not reflect true store numbers. In addition to a crazy high number of variant covers, it's been theorized that sales at schools through the Scholastic Book Clubs may have skewed those stats.

Rich Johnston and Heidi MacDonald have also voiced differing opinions on the influence of Loot Crate stats and their contributions to these numbers.

Over at ICv2 they have posted their Top 300 Comics - Actual. That shows Marvel having eight titles in the Top 20, DC with nine, Image with two, and BOOM! with one.

On a side note, Bleeding Cool states that it appears that DC's "Rebirth" is still trending on the high side according to research done for BC by several comic shops, including my personal one-stop shop, Graham Crackers Comics. Those Retailers have some interesting insight into movement and sales they have been seeing on certain titles at the link above.

Here is the Top Ten List the Retailers compiled from their November orders:

1. Detective Comics #944
2. All-Star Batman #4
3. Flash #10
4. Action Comics #967
5. Invincible Iron Man #1
6. Wonder Woman #10
7. Batman/TMNT Adventures #1
8. Black Panther: World Of Wakanda #1
9. Hal Jordan & the Green Lantern Corps #8
10. Clone Conspiracy #2

Hal Jordan & The GLC in the Top Ten? I've been telling you guys for months now that title is crazy good.

Join us again next month when we spin the wheel on November's Top Comics winner and see how that Retailer List pans out.

About the Author - IvCNuB4

IvCNuB4 likes to maintain an air of mystery by never publicly revealing his true name unless you are one of the four lucky Outhouse posters he has PM'd it to. A life-long Chicago native, he was introduced to comics by his older brother's vast collection of Silver Age issues. When he is not at his day job as an IT geek or making the most of Chicago's three months of incredible summer, he can found spending way too much time with his very large, very loud Italian family. You will never find him on the likes of Facebook or Twitter as he scoffs at the necessity of most forms of social media.
