Sony Announces Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite!!

The rumors are true! The characters of Marvel and Capcom are going to go at it once again in 2017. Unless you're from X-Men and Fantastic Four. Then you gotta sit this one out it seems.

So rem!!!ember those rumors of another Marvel vs. Capcom game earlier this week? Well, the rumors were true! Today at Playstation Experience, Sony showed off a teaser trailer for the latest chapter of fighting franchise, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Here it is:

So here's what we know. 2 vs 2 will be back (which we haven't seen since well the original Marvel vs. Capcom as the first two sequels were more about 3 vs. 3). Also in play as shown in the teaser trailer will be the Infinite Stones (which haven't been used since Marvel Super Heroes). But since, these stones have been the corner "stone" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a looming third Avengers movie probably are the reasons why they'll have a key role here.

Further details of the game (thanks to the Playstation Blog), "single player Arcade, Training and Mission modes, a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode will put players at the center of both universes as they battle for supremacy against powerful forces and a new villain."

On the other side (and to be a bit more critical on the Marvel side) it also adds nothing but more fuel to a growing fire that of the other rumor of this game: 0 X-Men or Fantastic Four characters will participate in this installment(which would be ironic given this all spun from an X-Men fighting game to begin with). Still, the entire roster hasn't been revealed fully yet and you know Capcom might poke the stubborn Marvel to have at least someone (like Deadpool or Wolverine maybe?). On the plus side if you're missing those characters, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released on the PSN for the PS4 today.

Still, this is just minor speculation with only FOUR characters announced (and a fifth teased) so far. If there's any new bits to fill the gaps aka the PS Blog mentions of an extended trailer tomorrow during the Capcom Cup tomorrow on ESPN (wait.. ESPN covers not-Madden Games now? Huh...). If they pull what MvC 3 did with character trailers. Then well, we're going to probably flood this front page with that too. No matter what, check back in on us and we'll keep you hooked up with what's going on.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will be released in late 2017.
