We're just as surprised as you are.
The newest addition to the cast of Riverdale is '80s teen actress Molly Ringwald as Archie's mother Mary Andrews. Ringwald is best for the John Hughes' films Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles.
Having left Riverdale two years ago to follow her dreams, Ringwald's Mary comes back to town in her family's hour of need. She not only reconnects with Archie and her husband, Fred, but also her former high school gal-pals Hermione and Alice, just in time for a Homecoming Dance.
Unbeknownest to The Outhouse, Ringwald was recently seen in Jem and The Holograms, Raising Expectations, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
Ringwald joins a cast that includes Marisol Nichols (Hermione), K.J. Apa (Archie), Cole Sprouse (Jughead), Camila Mendes (Veronica), and Lili Reinhart (Betty). Riverdale is set to air January 26.
