Realizing there isn't enough dog deaths in comics, Dynamite Entertainment, announced a partnership with Lionsgate to publish comics based on the Keanu Reeves autobiographical movie John Wick. The movie follows a retired hitman as he has to return to the shady underworld after the theft of his 1969 Mustang and death of his wife and dog.
Dynamite CEO/Publisher and Olive Garden special of the day Nick Barrucci said, "John Wick was such an exciting film, mixing martial arts action with snappy dialogue and smart writing," which Dynamite isn't known for so this is a step in the right direction for the publisher.
In the most safe PR statement, Sheila Clarke, SVP Global Consumer Products Lionsgate Entertainment said, "A comic series is the perfect vehicle to engage in a different way with fans as well as expand the John Wick universe."
The director of the first John Wick, David Leitch, is now directing Deadpool 2. Check out the trailer for John Wick: Chapter Two here, which opens February 10, 2017. The John Wick comic will debut in 2017.
