Thor To Take On Someone His Own Size

Get ready for god on god action in the Asgard/Shi'ar War.

Described by IGN as "Lord of the Rings vs. Star Wars", next week's The Mighty Thor #15 pits Thor against the Shi'ar and their own gods Sharra and K'ythri. It's good that Thor picks on someone his own size, instead of schmucks like BloodaxeCrusader, and Megatak.

The Shi'ar gods have been mentioned before in Marvel history, but this is the first time they take center stage, allowing artist Russell Dauterman free reign to design the gods.

More subtly, I'm going for a clean-line look for with the Shi'ar...Whereas the Shi'ar and The Imperial Guard are all pretty sleek. Same sort of thing with their architecture: structured, geometric.

And because it isn't a Marvel book without the X-Men, expect some to appear.

Gladiator and Warbird pop up right out of the gate, who are characters I introduced in Wolverine: The X-Men. As the arc goes along I wouldn't be surprised to see some more connections to my X-Men run.

Dauterman's god design and issue 15 cover are below.
