Ragnarok is coming to movie theaters later this year (after Summer's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Spider-Man: Homecoming) in the form of Thor: Ragnarok. The movie has been described as a cosmic romp and buddy movie and indeed the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) will appear in the film. We also know of several other actors that will appear, but little about their roles in the film.

Today, Marvel revealed a new plot synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok which does little to clarify the roles, but does give us a slightly better idea of what the movie will be about. It also mentions the gladiator contest, but does not specify it taking place on Sakaar. Oddly, it also fails to mention what the D23 fan club mentioned a few days ago; that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will also be making an appearance (not a surprise if you watched all of Doctor Strange).

Here's the synopsis:

In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!""Thor: Ragnarok" is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

Kevin Feige is producing with Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Thomas M. Hammel and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. The story is by Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost and Stephany Folsom, and the screenplay is by Eric Perason.

Marvel also released a photo from the set of the movie. Finally, not spy shots or random images from the director… and it's… well, nothing spectacular. Here you go:

Well, hopefully we see more interesting images from the movie soon. Thor: Ragnarok will destroy theaters November 3, 2017.
