Till All Are One! R.I.P. Dick Gautier (1931-2017)

You may not know the name, but if you lived in the 80s you've heard his voice.

Yesterday, Dick Gautier passed away at the age of 85 after battling a long-standing illness. Now, I know what you're asking. Who the heck is Dick Gautier? If you were born in the 80s and watched G.I. Joe or Transformers. You know Gautier's voice. Cast later periods of both shows, he voiced Serpentor and Rodimus Prime. In fact, his voice was heard in a lot of children's cartoons in the 80s to 90s. Batman: The Animated Series, the Smurfs, Tom and Jerry KidsShow, Pirates of Dark Water, Inhumanoids, and Ducktales to name a few. Just that when you voice the two who COMMANDS Cobra and the Autobots any other role just seems secondary.

His geek cred doesn't end there. He also appeared as Batman in a TV public service announcement that had Burt Ward and Yvonne Craig about equal pay for women.

He also appeared on various 80s television shows as well. The Rockford Files, Murder She Wrote, Fantasy Island, Trapper John M.D., Knight Rider, and the Love Boat just to name a few he guest appeared in. His most famous live-action role was on Get Smart as  Hymie the Robot.

Though still, for me and probably others we shall always remember him as the voice of Serpentor bellowing orders or negatives onto Cobra Commander like no one else could.
