Former Vertigo Executive Editor Shelly Bond has found a new home at IDW Publishing, after being unceremoniously let go from DC last April. Bond, who has over twenty years experience in comics, will be launching the Black Crown imprint, a new home for creator-owned comics, similar to her former boss, Karen Berger's, imprint at Dark Horse, Berger Books.
While at Vertigo, Bond had a hand in bringing many of their titles to fruition including Fables, The Invisibles, Sandman: Overture, Lucifer, iZombie, and DC's Young Animal.
The title "Black Crown" represents not only the name of the creator-owned imprint, but also a pub that anchors a mysterious street that connects each creator-owned title. Top creators will tell stories of a singular vision and point of view but will also have the opportunity to intersect with the tapestry of this unprecedented shared environment by way of owning storefront real estate that correlates to their particular creations.
Stories from the Black Crown Pub will be previewed at San Diego Comic Con and launch in October 2017.
