Ever since casting the whitest possible guy to play Iron Fist in Netflix's Marvel's Iron First, even after meeting with Asian-American actors, the show has been accused of whitewashing. For those unfamiliar, whitewashing can either be casting a white actor in a traditionally non-white role or burying someone's face in snow, and there isn't any snow in LA.
Finn Jones, the pasty man behind Danny Rand, engaged in a Twitter discussion with Asyiqin Haron, creative director at Geeks of Color, about his casting, on Sunday, after Jones retweeted a post by Riz Ahmed with the message: "representation is important. and here's why."
Haron responded to Jones with "are you for real?" Jones responded, pointing out that while the main character stayed true to the source material, the show incorporates and celebrates actors from all different backgrounds.
The conversation was civil, but Jones deleted his account and Haron made her account private after people started harassing her, so the screencaps she had taken of the conversation can't be publicly seen anymore.
Meanwhile, Jones exclusively told Deadline he's leaving Twitter to stay focused on The Defenders.
