'Thor: Ragnarok' Plot Details Revealed

Your burning questions answered! Well, maybe.

Source: Why does Thor have short hair? Where's his hammer? Thor: Ragnarok plot revealed! (warning: video auto-play)

Yesterday, we got our first real good look at the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie via the cover and photo dump from Entertainment Weekly. Sharp-eyed readers noticed the lack of both Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) trusty hammer Mjolnir, and his golden flowing locks. It was previously revealed that Thor wouldn't have his hammer in the movie, and his situation is the cause for his new 'do.

Now, more information about the plot has been revealed for Thor: Ragnarok, and it seems that the filmmakers didn't ignore what your burning questions might be. Their answers might be dancing around things, and ar light on details, but hey they want you to see the dang movie.

Thor ends up finding out Loki (Tom Hiddelston) replacing Odin (Anthony Hopkins) at the end of Thor: The Dark World. Turns out Loki isn't that great a ruler though, and because of his lax oversight, the Goddess of Death Hela is unleashed from imprisonment and is just a bit "cross".

When Thor first meets Hela, she blasts him all the way to the planet Sakaar, a barbaric planet that is the dumping ground of many a wormhole. Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), who Thor is quite the fanboy of, takes Thor to the ruler of Sakaar, the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum). On this planet, many of the inhabitants are just as tough as Thor, and he is stripped of his Hammer, forced to cut his hair, and participate in gladitorial battle.

Gladia-Thor then meets the most successful gladiator on Sakaar, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) aka the Incredible Hulk. Ruffalo says that the Hulk is a bit different this time around:

"He’s much more of a character than the green rage machine you've seen in the Avengers movies" … "He’s got a swagger. He’s like a god."

After the characters are reunited, the movie takes on a road-trip/buddy vibe. Director Taika Waititi wants to highlight Hemsworth's comedic talent, saying that he is "…legitimately one of the funniest things in this film".

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentions that not much of the film takes place on Earth, though the appearance of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) teased at in the credits of the Doctor Strange film, is one that does.

Fans also may have wondered what happened to Hela's helmet teased in the Ragnarok concept art. Don't worry, she will have her headgear, but not wanting to be masked all the time, Blanchett said:

"… I really talked to the Marvel team and Taika about was when we would chose to have her masked and when she wouldn't be masked."

Also, about that helm--headdress and Hela's power:

"She's able to manifest weapons. Her headdress can be weapons. She can manifest weapons out of different parts of her body. I won't tell you which — I'll leave that hanging."

Waititi also says that Thor: Ragnarok will help to set up events for 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. Thor: Ragnarok starts its trip November 3, 2017.

Now give us more info on Skurge (Karl Urban) and whoever the heck Sam Neill is playing wouldya?
