New 'Masters Of The Universe' Movie Gets A Release Date

Loses the director though…

Source: McG no longer directing Masters of the Universe

A new Masters of the Universe movie has been gestating since at least 2007. Development of the movie, based on the once popular toyline and TV cartoon (and it has a cult favorite movie as well) moved over to Sony in 2009 and seems to have been in development hell since. In February 2015, Columbia Pictures Senior Vice President DeVon Franklin  claimed we'd get Masters of the Universe news the following week, but nothing big was announced so is today's news what he was talking about?

If so, it's kind of strange. The movie appears to have lost its director, McG. At the same time, they are confirming that the movie has a release date: December 18, 2019. So, they have just a bit more than two years to get a director, some actors, and filming and editing done. Hopefully David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) almost has the script finished.

Hope they are using the power of Greyskull to get this done.
