The Doomsday Clock struck ahead one minute closer to midnight with Todd McFarlane's announcement that the first draft of his R-rated Spawn script has been completed. McFarlane first announced his intention of a new Spawn film in 2007.
His first rough draft was 182 pages, which McFarlane said was too long for Hollywood and there's nothing he likes more than playing ball, so he trimmed the script down to 136 pages, with another dozen to go.
McFarlane also claims that over 14 inquiries have been made about the script, without him officially approaching Hollywood. When they were reminded he was writing a script for Spawn, all 14 politely declined. He adds that before San Diego a big announcement will take place.
