Still less scary than another Bryan Singer X-film.

While director Josh Boone has been teasing about his upcoming The New Mutants film, not much has been revealed in the way of plot until now, divulging that the movie will be a straight-up horror flick.

"We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe," director Josh Boone says. "There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We're trying to do something very, very different."

This direction is new for the X-Men franchise, as they've always been traditional superhero films.

The New Mutants, which was created by Chris Claremont in the early '80s, is about a group of teenage mutants, a kind of superheroes-in-training, who must learn to control their powers.

Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams was cast as Wolfsbane, as well as Anya Taylor-Joy, who will be playing Magik. Sources close to production say that 13 Reasons Why's Henry Zaga will be announced soon as Sunspot. The release date is set as April 13, 2018.
