Blu Hunt Cast As Danielle Moonstar In The New Mutants

Hunt is part Native American. Hopefully enough to appease the critics.

The last member of the main team for The New Mutants has been cast with the announcement of Blu Hunt playing Danielle Moonstar. Hunt is a relative new actress, who appeared in a handful of episodes of The Originals. Moonstar is a Native American, with the power to create illusions drawn from the fears and desires of a person's mind. The plot is rumored to be based around the Demon Bear storyline, of which Moonstar plays a central role.

Hunt joins the already announced Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik. Actors Charlie Heaton and Rosario Dawson are currently in negotiations for Cannonball and Dr. Cecilia Reyes, respectively.

Zaga's casting has garnered controversy, with some claiming the Brazilian-born actor is too light-skinned for the part. If the same critics feel similar to Hunt's casting, who is part Native American, we're in for a fun weekend.

The New Mutants, which was recently revealed to be a horror film by director Josh Boone, is set to release April 13, 2018.
