Warner Bros. Set To Ask Patty Jenkins Pretty Please To Do A Sequel

The Wonder Woman director has yet to sign on for a sequel.

Wonder Woman was a smash success, giving it the biggest opening weekend box office take ever for a female director at $223 million, when combining domestic and foreign. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the film's audience was 52% women, while previous superhero films relied on a 60% or higher male audience. Given the film's success, a sequel is inevitable, with director Patty Jenkins even discussing what she would do in a sequel.

"The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. She's Wonder Woman. She's got to come to America. It's time."

The only thing is Jenkins isn't already signed on for that sequel. Star Gal Gadot has an option in place as part of her overall deal as Wonder Woman, but with Jenkins' only previous film credit as 2003's Monster, Warner Bros. signed her to a one-film deal. She'll have a lot of leverage going into negotiations for the sequel, which are rumored to begin soon.

Wonder Woman is in theaters now.
