'Star Trek: Discovery' Launch Date Finally Decided Upon

Series will actually debut this year.

After several delays, and previously mired in uncertainty, the newest Star Trek series finally has a launch date. The first real peek at Star Trek: Discovery arrived last month with a first look trailer, which gave Trek fans the first real hope that the series was finally on its way, and now there is a launch date: September 24, 2017, 8:30-9:30pm ET/PT.

CBS provided the date via a little animated tweet:


The premiere will air on CBS, and will be also be available on the pay-for CBS All Access streaming service along with the series' second episode. After the premiere, the rest of the season will be available via CBS All Access (in the US) with epsidoes airing on Sundays. The first season will have 15 episodes and will be shown in two parts, the first part running from September 24 through November 5, with the second part starting in January 2018. Canada will have the opportunity to also catch Discovery on the Space GO app and on CraveTV, with the rest of the world getting the show via Netflix.
