'The Incredibles 2' Picks Up Right After The First Film

Will reportedly be "special" and "awesome"… "Incredible" not mentioned.

Last week, in the run up to Disney's D23 Expo, a new piece of artwork was released on the D23 mobile app for upcoming The Incredibles 2 movie:

The image shows us the main characters from the first film in illustrative form, and also some objects. It seems like at least one of those objects will also be making a return along with our fantastic incredible family. in an interview with Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter at D23, he says that the sequel begins just after the 2004 original ended:

"It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on" … "It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that's where start this movie."

No details about the plot of the new film were revealed but Lasseter did describe it as a "special story" and gave the following vague description of what you can expect:

"One of the unique things about the Incredibles is it's really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes. This one carries on that theme" … "It's awesome, the idea we came up with -- simple as that. ... We love to really look at our own lives and look at what's going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience."

Hopefully we get a trailer soon. The Incredibles 2 hits theaters June 15, 2018.
