Skybound Entertainment, the comic book media company founded by the richest man in Kentucky Robert Kirkman, an imprint of Image Comics, has partnered with Atria Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, a subsidiary of CBS Corporation, to create a new imprint Skybound Books. This new arm of Kirkman's empire will initially publish four to six books, which are comic books without pictures, a year. These books will include "original works of fiction and nonfiction as well as books derived from existing and forthcoming Skybound Entertainment properties."

These original works will then be shopped by Kirkman and Skybound co-founder David Alpert to various networks to be turned into either television shows or feature films, continuing Kikrman's goal of world domination. Current Skybound projects adapted or to be adapted into TV shows or movies include The Walking DeadFear The Walking DeadOutcastThief Of ThievesInvincible. They're also working on adapting the novel Chronicles Of Amber and Five Years, which is an unused Kirkman script that is getting both a Korean adaptation and a Latin American version.
