Director Zack Snyder stepped down from post-production on Justice League in May, following his daughter's suicide. Joss Whedon took over, handling the reshoots. Snyder could previously do no wrong at Warner Bros., overseeing the DC Cinematic Universe, but now his future is unclear, ranging from limited to none at all. Inside sources are reporting that Zack and his producer wife Deborah Snyder won't have the same creative control.

Warner Bros. is denying this, with Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President and Chief Content Officer, issuing a statement.

The Snyders remain an important part of the Warner Bros. family and are actively involved in several upcoming DC pictures, including their continued creative input on Justice League. We are excited about our partnership and look forward to our continued collaboration.

Zack and Deborah will still receive directing and producing credits, respectively, on Justice League. Zack has been involved in a directorial or executive producing capacity on Man of SteelBatman v Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder WomanAquaman, Suicide Squad 2, and The Flash: Flashpoint.

There are certainly enough other creators at Warner Bros. that could take his place including Geoff Johns, Whedon, James Wan, Matt Reeves, Patty Jenkins, and David Ayer, provided he stops taking jabs at Warner Bros, like he did at San Diego Comic Con.

"I don't think people realize the situation filmmakers face," he said, stressing that Netflix didn't intervene in his process — they just let him run with it. "[Bright] isn't like, some bullshit standard issue studio PG-13 movie. I was able to do some real shit here," said Ayer, who has directed exactly one PG-13 movie in his career: Suicide Squad.
