SDCC: Rick & Morty Panel

SDCC maybe over but we're getting the news we missed. Like the Rick & Morty panel!!

With only four days till Rick & Morty Season 3 premieres in full over on Cartoon Network, of course at SDCC this past weekend there was a panel for the show which had Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland, Sarah Chalke, Ryan Ridley, and Spencer Grammar. No animatics this time around.

Talk shifted of course on why Season 3 took so long and the expectations the creators had on making sure it met those expectations for fans. There was a mini skit involving the characters were Harmon explained as to why it took them so long given the fine tuning.

Then getting off track Roiland noticed in the front row someone was cosplaying as McDonalds Szechuan Sauce and just had to reveal that McDonald's would be giving him a liter bottle of the glorious sauce and would make all of the staff sample it. After that, Roiland went back on track to reveal the spinoff that caused Rick & Morty to get delayed, The Justin Roiland RC Stunt Extravaganza Show. But really they admit they have a lot of fun with the office.

Questions ranged from just how dark the show will get given the Season 3 Premiere to which Roiland musingly said, "By Episode 10 you won't be able to see the episode." Harmon then added, "It's just gonna be a blank frame and the title." "Then eyes blinking here and there," Roiland added to Harmon's statement. Before truthfully the duo answered it was Rick being Rick and him cracking the whip explaining to Morty of what happens to those who cross him and that nobody has Morty's back now with Jerry "removed".

Some Mr. Meeseeks cosplayers showed up to ask a question if the characters would ever return to the show. They didn't rule that out, other than the usual cameos like in Season 2, and that they will eventually. Though the panel was floored at how their devotion.

A fan asked if we would see an episode of the "band" or how the "band" was formed aka Rick, Bird Person, and Squanchy? Roiland said probably not.

Was any of Rick's backstory in Season 3 Premiere true? Roiland said if you fabric a fake memory or pull some real things and pull some edits?

Roiland was asked about his Zechs-method acting. He said he only did it once during that one time that he was filmed for it.

We'll learn Beth deals with the Season 3 premiere along with learning a bit more of her childhood along with why she does what she does.
