Marvel is dialing up the nostalgia with their Marvel Legacy initiative. Not only are they going back to the old numbering system for some of their titles, but as they promised before, adding fan-related items they used to offer. One of the things Marvel used to include with their comics back in 1974-1976 were Marvel Value Stamps. Certain issues of comics would include these "stamps" (really just part of the comic page, but framed with an illustrated stamp perforation to resemble a postage stamp. Fans could cut out and collect these stamps and paste them into a book that could be ordered. So if you ever bought a back issue and a rectangular shape was cut out of it, well maybe this is why.
Well, they're back! It doesn't seem like you'd need scissors for them this time though as they are:
… on inserts within the regular cover editions for all first issue Marvel Legacy titles, beginning with titles debuting in October
There will be 53 stamps to collect, and Marvel will be making available a collectible stamp album to be revealed at a later time.
Note that there were "new" Marvel Value Stamps, as sort of a cute addition to some of the Marvel Handbooks, and also in 2006's Marvel Spotlight issues.
Also Marvel Legacy related is another look at a couple of the 1,000,000 B.C. Avengers. As noted previously, these Avengers will appear in Marvel Legacy #1, and is composed of Odin and Agamotto, and prehistoric versions of Black Panther, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Phoenix, and Star Brand. We already got a sneak peek of the team, but here are a couple of "posters" for the 1,000,000 B.C. Avengers Black Panther and Starbrand by Mike Deodato:
Marvel Legacy #1 hits shelves in September.
