Brian Herbert, son of Dune author Frank Herbert, will be working alongside Kevin J. Anderson to adapt his father's novel as a three-part graphic novel.

For the reasoning behind the three separate parts, Herbert cited the original book's style.

A publisher will be announced at an upcoming convention. Herbert also plans to adapt his prequel story, Dune: House Atreides.

Originally published in 1965, Dune is the first installment of the Dune saga, spawning five sequels: Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse: Dune. Brian Herbert has expanded the Dune universe with prequels and short stories. The book was first adapted to film in 1984, a three part mini-series in 2000, and another film is in the works with director Denis Villeneuve.
