ABC Concerned About ABC's Marvel's Inhumans

The show had a "modest" take at the box office, despite zero competition.

ABC's Marvel's Inhumans isn't looking too hot and executives at ABC are taking note. Sources said that concerns over quality of Inhumans episodes, both the special effects of early cuts and the underpinning scripts, were a source of contention between ABC and Marvel. Apparently, ABC wanted to make a good TV show and Marvel wanted to make Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. look good in comparison.

Inhumans' IMAX take of $2.6 million worldwide isn't enough to change the executives' minds. That number is also bolstered by the fact that there were no new wide U.S. film releases that week as well.

"The fact that they really didn't do that well for IMAX doesn't bode well for other networks copying this strategy and also whether the show will be successful," said veteran media analyst Brad Adgate.

Given Executive Producer Jeph Loeb's defensive responses during the TCA panel, the show doesn't have high hopes.
