Marvel's Voyager Identity Revealed

Plus more on the next Avengers "disassembled" crossover

Earlier this month Marvel  teased a "new" character, asking us "Who is Voyager?" and notes that we'd find out more on September 29. We speculated that it might be related to Marvel Legacy #1 which arrived earlier in the week, and we were right… sort of. SPOILER for those who haven't read Marvel Legacy yet, but in that issue, Voyager makes an appearance as part of the founding Avengers status.

Newsarama had an interview with Marvel SVP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort about the upcoming Avengers event crossover, Avengers: No Surrender. As a refresher, during this crossover, the currently titles will be unified under a single title and will appear weekly for 16 issues starting with Avengers #675. The writers of the current titles (Mark Waid, Al Ewing, Jim Zub) will work collaboratively to pen the issues, while artists Pepe Larazz, Kim Jacinto, and Paco Medina will alternate months. The story features Earth being stolen.

Regarding the Voyager character, Breevort does reveal her non-super name, Valerie Vector, and described her as:

"… she's the most important character in the Marvel Universe that you don't remember – but you will. And you'll remember her by the time Avengers #676 comes out, the second part of No Surrender."

He also challenged fans:

"… people can go to their Marvel Handbooks to see if they can suss out any clues about her identity."

That's about it regarding Voyager. However, Breevort also confirmed one thing about the character: she is not the cosmic cube fragment Kobik.

The SVP went on to compare (as madman Zechs did) this event to another infamous one in Avengers history:

"… in a certain way Avengers: No Surrender will be like the "Avengers Disassembled" of this era of the team. And after that – and again, it's not exactly this, but it's kinda like this – we'll follow that up with the New Avengers of the next era. Not literally – but in spirit."

And reiterated:

"I can say pretty definitively that Avengers: No Surrender is designed to create a big, apocalyptic finish for the current incarnation of the team and lead to the next iteration of the Avengers."

Newsarama also posted some covers and pages from Avengers: No Surrender, including the Avengers #675 lenticular cover:
